HIKING AT:
TORREY PINES STATE RESERVE 4.5 miles Torrey Pines State Reserve offers spectacular ocean and shoreline views from the top of weather-beaten cliffs. The smooth, sandy trails wind through native chaparral. Rare Torrey pines grow on ridges between deep canyons that end at the sea. If the tide is low, running back to the parking lot on the beach adds additional exhilaration to an already extraordinary run. Several loop courses can be combined for a longer run amid the beautiful geological formations and rock outcroppings. The trails are narrow and can be busy on weekends, so it is best to run early in the morning. At high tide, waves crashing against the cliffs make beach running impossible, so plan accordingly. text from: There are many more hiking trails in the area, please visit trails.com for a full list. |
